This is for those who have have replaced their Gear Fit 2 straps with a more rugged and reliable strap. But one of the drawbacks of having a rugged strap is that it when you place your Gear Fit on the charging dock, the contacts are now too high to make connection to charge. So you have to remove the device each time you need to charge. So I've made this 3D print to replace the top section of the charging dock which allows you to charge without having to remove the device from the strap! !!!!! WARNING !!!!! When dismantling your charging dock, be VERY careful with the wires! They are thin and VERY easy to break away from the solder. I recommend when you unscrew the base of the dock, you hot glue the wires to the PCB But even then do things slowly and gently. Once fully removed, wrap some Kapton tape around the middle of the PCB for extra hold. When removing the magnets from the original top piece, keep note of the orientation, cos you need then to be glued into the 3D print with the correct polarity facing the Gear Fit so it attracts it instead of pushing it away. You could use a permanent marker to mark the bottom. If you cant remember an easy way to check is put the magnets on the Gear Fit and they will flip to the correctly orientation themselves. Optional Extra - Magnetised Base! If you have some small button magnets, glue them to the metal base inside the charging dock. Again check the polarity, you want the magnets to pull the original dock magnets now in the 3D print down, not push it away. Now you have a magnetised base which you can stick to the top of your PC or monitor mount without is slipping off so easily! Although you can hang this upside down or vertically the magnets arent strong enough to hold the Gear Fit and strap in place, so falls off the dock. Maybe if you can replace the original dock magnets with much stronger ones? NOTE Check the polarity of all magnets before gluing! If installed the wrong way, they will repel the Gear Fit instead of attracting it. Again if you add the extra magnets on the base, if they are set to repel the 3D print and the Gear Fit you will find the Gear Fit will have a difficult time making connections, as well as ungluing the print from the base See image, each magnet want to attract the other. I'm not good at design. Even with supports the holes will need a little filing. You may find printing this upside down, so it look like a bowl not a dome, may produce better holes; but you will have to do some finishing work as it'll probably need sanding etc.
