Gear machine

Gear machine

thingiverse

A simple gear train loosely based on the gear machine from the book "Making Wooden Gear Clocks" (although not using their design or plans). Print two of "Gear stack", and one the other files. You will need seven 3x6x2.5 bearings and some 3mm washers for use as spacers. The parts may need a little finishing to fit the bearings and to remove elephant's footing. You can either either Base or Base variant. Base has 3D printed shafts. It's rather fragile and you will need to sand the shafts until they are smooth and the right diameter. Alternatively you can print Base variant with brass or steel 3mm shafts cut to the right length. For me it ran better on the Base than on Base variant, and I think that's due to using some old, out-of-tolerance bearings. The project has absolutely no purpose. I did it purely as a way of getting some more experience with Fusion 360 before embarking on a larger project. The f3d file is included. The flywheel spins at 13.6 times the speed of the 43T gear.
