I printed a skull found on thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:518109/files), and we got the idea to use it as a gear shifter knob for my car, as I had already woodturned a shifter a while back.

The skull is scaled to 40% of the original, the “Cutout for Hexnut” is used as a negative space within Prusaslicer, as I don´t have the CAD-program/computing power to change the actual skull-stl-file. The Cutout for Hexnut has to be scaled back to normal size when importing! (lenght of 55 mm). I just moved the cutout in place by eye, this worked fine.

The skull is printed in black PETG and supports on the buildplate. The supports where a bit difficult to remove, so you might experiment without them.

The nut (M12*1,25 - special fine thread) just fits into place, I secured it with a few drops of CA-glue. I used a Nyloc-Nut to keep the knob from turning. The nuts where bought here: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0822XSF2V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The skull shape is very nice in the hand and works well as a shifter, additionally to looking absolutely fabulous and completely hilarious. You might want to tilt the head a few degrees less than I did (25 degrees).

Notice: The solidworks files were done with a students licence, so don´t open them with a commercial licence!
