This is a light weight alternative to some of the Gear VR fan covers. It will slot into where the white plastic part of the Gear VR meets the black part. You can reposition the mount to change where the air flow is, depending on where your phone's hot spots are. You may need to trim down the legs in order to mount them near the middle, as there is less room near the middle for them to slot in to. With some testing, I found that a single 40mm 5v fan is more than enough to prevent over heating, in fact I have put a 10 ohm resister in series with the fan to slow it down a bit. If you would like any alterations to this, such as dual fans, or different fan sizes, please comment and I will do it. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 10% Notes: Print with the legs sticking up, I used 0.2mm layers, but really do what you're used to. Post-Printing Fan Mounting The mount will hold a 40mm fan nicely, there are no screw holes (intentionally), so a dab of super glue / hot glue may be required. Mine didn't need this as the fan fit in nice and tight. I have bought a Micro USB splitter for £1.50 on eBay, you can cut the head off one of the male ends and wire it up to the fan, and then the other male end can go into the Gear VR. Then plug your power supply (I recommend a small usb battery supply that you can put into your pocket.) into the female end of the adapter. This means that the fan and the Gear VR will be powered off of a single USB cable. How I Designed This Google SketchUp I used Google SketchUp for the design.
