Geneva with Torsion Spring Mechanism

A different kind of Geneva Wheel, or Maltese Cross. In this one, the input wheel (blue) has the grooves and the output cross (yellow) has the pins. It uses an actuator (red) pushed by a torsion spring to force the output pins inside the input grooves. The actuator is assembled on the top of the output, and it has a groove to work as a limit. The output wheel has a pin which slides inside that groove. See the scheme picture for further information. This mechanism only works in one direction. The spring is shown on the animation. I used a trick to make it work. Modeled with Solidworks 2015. Rendered with Simlab Composer 6 Mechanical Edition. Frames edited with Virtualdub and saved as AVI/X264 and BMP. Video remuxed to MP4 with MyMP4BoxGui. Gifs made with PhotoScape. Renders edited with IrfanView. The 3D-PDF, ZIM and SIMLAB files are all animated. The ZIM file can be seen on IOS and Android devices using the free Simlab Viewer app. Model available in Solidworks 2015, Simlab Composer 6, DAE, STEP, IGES, STL, Parasolid, OBJ, 3D-PDF, SketchUp, 3DS and ZIM.
