People started making them initially to get rid of some outdated plastic but ended up printing a lot after they caught on at their workplace. I print them solid since they are just casings anyway. How I Designed This Thing My design involves extruding a thick edge as a thin feature, drawing random lines and then extruding those lines next. Six reference planes are drawn, three in the x-axis direction and three in the y-axis direction for creating a compound surface. Lines are then drawn to create the compound surface. Finally, I do a boundary surface, which cuts the part with that boundary surface.
