Gingerbread Tessellation with Box is a yummy treat based an original tessellation design by Robert Fathauer. Custom box included along with models for single-color and multi-color printing. Box Included with Download The box holds a baker’s dozen of gingerbread figures (more if printing flat models). The lid may be printed plain with single extrusion or include the gingerbread design for two, three, or four colors. Design Credit to Robert Fathauer, PhD Gingerbread shape and decorations are reproduced and shared on Cults3D with permission from Dr. Fathauer, the author of Tessellations: Mathematics, Art, and Recreation. The back is 2 mm thick, the decorations are 2 mm thick and the indentations in the back are 1 mm deep. “Blank + Face Thin + Buttons Thin” will have the decorations sitting on top of the blank back. The “Thin” decorations are 1 mm thick. My pictured three-color prints are “Blank + Face Thin + Buttons Thin.” The “Holes” model has the space for decorations all the way through the back. “Holes + Face + Buttons” will work for flat, multi-color models if the Face and Button models are lowered by 1 mm to be flush with the Holes model. One Color: See included photo with prints of Blank, Holes, and Back models. Note: I arranged those upside down for a smooth finish. For the Box Lid, use “Lid Outer + Lid Body + Lid Face + Lid Buttons.” A “Lid Solid” model is also included for single-color printing (screenshot included). Note: Align “Lid” models and group together then rotate 180 degrees to print the top face down. Additional Ideas: Print the “Holes” or “Back” model for a nice one-color print. Print “Blank” model if you want to use a 3D pen or markers to make your own design after printing. Great project for kids! Use single extrusion with a filament swap for two colors. Use duplication mode to print single-color gingerbread tiles twice as fast. Mix and match styles!
