1/4"-20tpi mount adapter for a Giro "Register Mips" bicycle helmet. Updated main model now has flat facets on exterior for better mating surface with devices. Use this to attach a GoPro or any camera or flashlight with quarter-twenty mount. The mount has a hook feature that grabs a foam rib in the front-center slot. Then a key-type lock slides into the back tail-blade to capture the underside of the helmet. A rubber band is then used for extra security and tension the assembly on to the helmet to dampen any movement. This was designed for a XL size helmet but likely works with smaller models. You could shim the mount using slices of 700c inner tubes under the body of the mount to snug it up a bit. A tighter rubber band can also be explored. The five mounting holes are in 7-degree offsets to allow me to adjust a camera or light so it tracks the center of view for the way I fit and adjust my helmet. The cavity under the five holes is built on planes that are 7-degrees off each other to anchor each position correctly. This cavity also provides space for a 1/4-20 screw. In my test version I use a pan-head screw to crank down the mating device. Also provided is a flashlight mount I made to work with 1-inch diameter handles. This uses 1/4-20 nut that has a built-in serrated-lock-washer. I put this nut of a 1/4-20 bolt that was 3-inches long... heated mostly the nut over a gas burner and used the screw to sink the nut and washer into the mount. (more available & cheaper that brass nut inserts) I can see the need for inner-tube slivers as shims to tension and lock down many mating 1/4-20 mounts. Now I can mount my ION-pro camera, or Tipeye 500LM & Towild BC02 flashlights. These Tipeye and Towild lights share the same circuitry and are GREAT bike lights at a bargain price. **** DISCLAIMER **** We live in a litigious world. Having an accident with anything attached to a helmet likely effects the way the helmet would behave in an accident. You assume all risks to the user or to the device mounted when you produce, install and use this on a helmet. If you can't assume the risk, then do NOT use this set of parts.
