Gladiator’s Gravestone. It shows two gladiators in combat in two sections. It is from a gravestone/funerary monument from a man who sponsored the Gladiatorial show. The two gladiators are named Scolasticus and Damascenus. The scene also shows that the two men are fighting to the death. Scolasticus is a Secutor ( The pursuer) and Damascenus is a Retiarius (the net fighter). This piece was found in the Colosseum in Rome. And dates from the 3rd-4th century A.D. It is made from marble
