Gloomhaven Monster: Harrower Infester

I made a Harrower Infester model for Gloomhaven (original artwork here: http://www.cephalofair.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Harrower-Infester.jpg)! This one took me a lot more work than I was expecting (and I wasn't expecting it to be easy in the first place...), both from a creative interpretation perspective and from a technical "now how do I possibly get it to print" perspective. To make it more bug-like, I put those big bug legs coming out the bottom of the model, which is certainly a creative liberty. For anyone who wants something a little closer to the original art, I also uploaded a version without those big legs, so it just has the little legs angled downwards from under the robe. Those little legs are a real pain. They love to move around during printing or to snap off when removing supports. Fortunately, they're not too bad to glue back in place, since the join spot isn't visible anyway. The best way that I've found to print it is to print it directly on the bed with Meshmixer tree supports going up to the weapons. I ended up printing with a brim (yuk!) to help keep all of those little legs in place, after having them snap off of their supports too many times during a "floating" print. I printed this with .05 mm layers and a .25 mm nozzle. If you can get the print up to the robe, you're probably in good shape, as the top of the model is pretty self supporting (I deleted the suggested support trees that went above the waist and it turned out just fine for me). Last week, I wrote a blog post about making Meshmixer Tree Supports (http://objectforge.blogspot.com/2018/08/making-meshmixer-supports.html), which you may want to look over before trying to print this guy. Finally, if you're interested in how I made this model, I wrote a blog post about how I made the legs at http://objectforge.blogspot.com/2018/08/new-thing-harrower-infester-for.html If you enjoy my work and have a few dollars to spare, please consider supporting me on Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/VirtuallyJason!
