This beautiful burial mask was placed directly over the bandages of the mummy’s face. With a cheerful expression, eyes wide open, with a golden face and blue cap the mask represented the divine state reached by the dead. To the ancient Egyptians the gods had the skin of gold and the hair of lapis lazuli. (text by Professor Antonio Brancaglion Jr) This artifact was lost in the fire of September 2, 2018.
