GoPro Multi Purpose Stand/Float

GoPro Multi Purpose Stand/Float

When my brother first installed his GoPro on his boat bow, he was worried about whether it would stay in place or not. All of the Floats were to small to protect it from sinking, so he asked if I could come up with something. It needed to not only float the GoPro, but also the base that would likely still be attached in the event of a suction release. I came up with this multi use design. You can use it as a stand that is extendable from 18cm to 30cm. You can use it as an extension to extend the camera approx 18cm from the mount. Most of all, it can provide enough displacement to float the entire unit. When using it as a stand, there is enough distance (when in the shorter setting), to protect the lens from impact should it fall over. This can also provide some additional protection when transporting and setting up. By printing the float piece NinjaFlex, it satisfied my brothers obsessive worries of a scratch in the boat should it fall off as in most cases, the softer plastic will bounce away rather than marring his new boat. Instructions I printed the float using NinjaFlex (TPE). it is printed at .2mm/layer, with 3 walls, and 15%infill. The Float is 15cm tall. The extension rod was printed using PLA. It was printed at .1mm, with 3 walls, and 25%infill, The rod settings were to provide strength, and the float settings were to maximize the water tightness of the piece as well as provide support for the roof bridging (I found NinjaFlex is not very good at that for me)
