I had a concept to use the Gothic Lantern by Shira that I found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2395716 Big shout out the design of this lantern. It was a perfect start to what I wanted to build. I had two applications for this: Adding this to my grim reaper for my new Halloween decoration outside. I also wanted to mount the lantern on poles that I staked into the yard along our walkway. I needed to secure an E26/E27 socket to the base as well given I wanted a firm holder for my LED Flame bulbs. Here is the link to the sockets that I bought on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0887X4B51/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pldnSite=1 PLEASE NOTE: i am using this socket for a 12V LED Flame bulb! It is not specifically designed for high voltage. Please use at your own risk! A couple of things that I designed into this base: 1. I raised the bulb socket in case water ever entered the lantern. If water does come down the sides of the lantern, it should drop into the base which is recessed from the socket base. 2. I added drainage holes for any water or moisture to fall down. 3. I needed it to sit on top of a landscaping extension (3/4" for the imperial folks) as I wanted the lanterns to be raised off the ground. Note: depending on where you find your pole, such as landscape irrigation poles, you may or may not need the connector that I also uploaded. I did for my pole, I needed it as it was female threaded on the top. If you get the irrigation poles, they are typically male threaded on both ends! 4. I needed the socket to fit snug and secured with a screw (which comes with the sockets) I added the STL file for a spike that I made. I will re-make it again so that wires do not need to be inserted first. For now - here it is. Securing to the base was easy - it really only needed 2 screws to secure. I used #6 x 1/2" screws For fun I also decided to make a base that I printed in FLEX to hot glue a small speaker to the lid so i could pipe out scary music as people came up the walkway. The final product turned out great. The flame LEDs are perfect for this application. FINAL NOTE: Flame LED bulbs are hard to find in 12v. Everyone sells them in high voltage, but you CAN find them in 12v. The 12v is perfect to just attach to your existing landscape power if you have it. Enjoy and Happy Halloween for those that celebrate it! NO supports are needed if printed with the pole connector oriented down. I also added infil modifications on my printer to print a cylinder area around the threads @80% infil for better support in case it was bumped.
