A power hone for sharpening engravers GRS style. This is from Shaun Hughes idea of using a slow geared DC motor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OgticTTDQQ I had some 6" diamond discs already e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sourcingmap-Diamond-Grinding-Sanding-Polishing/dp/B072C2L8K9/ Ean 0601382730273 4" might be more practical. I used a 24VDC 480 RPM geared Motor from ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-Gear-Motor-12V-24V-High-Torque-8-470Rpm-With-Electric-Gearbox-Reducer-for-DIY/402543051076 A cheap 9-24V power adaptror: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AC-DC-3-12V-9-24V-Electrical-Power-Supply-Adapter-Charger-Variable-Voltage-UK/363109269512?var=632247701005 And some bits for a thrust bearing to stop any platter wobble: 8mm Collars: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08BLLHLBZ 8mm rod (but you only need 50 mm): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T5SYYTZ A couple of skateboard bearings: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00WXDAUQG (I had all these left over from another project, you don't really need them to 'work') See pick for idea of assembly. I also put a bearing on the motor shaft before pushing on the platter to raise the height. A power connector also but check they match your power supply https://www.amazon.co.uk/Solder-Adapter-Connector-Female-Protector/dp/B07QNWFKQ7 FYI my power supply plug also matches my laptop and my ts100 soldering iron. 4x4mm screws to hold the motor in. My motor didn't have the holes on the bottom tapped and I already have a 4mm tap so no problem, but you might have to improvise - e,g just stick it in with bluetack Some 8mmx1.2mm magnets to hold the disc on the platter. Super glue them on.
