Gridfinity Base Template with Improved Holes (And Weight Slots - if you want them)

<p>The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra_9zU-mnl8">original gridfinity designs</a> have a <a href="https://thangs.com/designer/ZackFreedman">small error</a> where a circle is attempted to be printed in mid air while extruding the screw holes area. Without supports this causes both the screw and magnet holes to be unusable without some extra post processing.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>This uses a method from the <a href="3D Printing Cheat Sheet">3D Printing Cheat Sheet</a> to avoid that issue by drawing a few layers around the hole to act as support, and chamfering the hole to insure the best chance of a proper print.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I also took the opportunity to add a weight slot into the gridfinity base instead of just relying on the baseplates.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I have included pretty much every useful file I could think of: stl, step, and f360 (with and without messy history), all with version with and without weight slots.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Other Similar Resources:</strong></p><p><a href="https://www.printables.com/model/269834-gridfinity-template-modified-for-mid-air-holes">desaster</a> implemented this solution for the <a href="https://www.printables.com/model/269834-gridfinity-template-modified-for-mid-air-holes">standard box</a>, but I wanted to have one which I could use as an insert into any standard gridfinity item.</p><p><a href="https://github.com/kennetek/gridfinity-rebuilt-openscad">Gridfinity Rebuilt in OpenSCAD</a><br>A full rebuild of the Gridfinity system in OpenSCAD, this one also includes support for the mid-air holes.</p>
