Gridfinity open-ended segment bins/boxes
prusaprinters

Need to store something long? Want to use gridfinity, but have a small printer? These open-ended segments use the gridfinity grid to connect end-to-end. Size goes up to 4x1 - small enough to print on a 210mm x 210mm printer (or smaller if using the shorter segments).

This collection includes:

gridfinity-compatibility

1x1x6 through 4x1x6 single-open-ended segments (endcaps)

1x1x6 through 3x1x6 double-open-ended segments (middle segments)

Usage includes storage of long things like:

rulers

pens, pencils, markers

paint brushes

cutlery

Not good for storage of loose items like nuts, washers or tiny screws. The segments are not “connected” so, yeah… don't pick them up with things inside.

You might be asking: “don't pick them up! Then what's the point?". The point, in my case is that I needed a desk drawer organizer that included space for ruler-sized rulers, marker-sized markers, and pencil-sized pencils. I won't need to pick up the bins, so “works for me”.

Remixed from the 1-grid-wide model of “Gridfinity Open Ended Holders”, these bins have been updated to print to the edge of the open end to allow them to be placed end-to-end without gaps.

Note: The “middle segments” have two unsupported walls, so they are delicate. My 4x1x6 test print failed to adhere on one of the lower layers (along with some other flaws in the stl itself) so I've removed it from the pack. With a moderate amount of handling while fitting it into my desk, one of the walls cracked off. I'm reviewing the design to see what I can do to fix this flaw.
