A hybrid amphibious aircraft that can transition from ground
effect into conventional flight may prove to be an asset for certain niche purposes.
This is an initial design of such a vehicle. The idea is to fly in ground effect over sea and transition to conventional flight on land.
The benefits of flying in ground effect have long been recognized and utilized. Flying
close to the ground not only increases the lift, but also decrease induced drag.
