Whenever I was cleaning my favorite coffee maker I thought that its sterile glass bulb and easy to clean filter would make a perfect sprouting device. So I designed a holder for the glass.

The print conveniently drains water directly into the sink and lets you serve the sprouts in the device like it's shown in one of the pictures, collecting residual water on the side of the glass.

When I used conventional sprouters I had to put a plate under them to catch water and they also don't look that nice. In comparison to off-the-shelf solutions the microgreens don't get a swampy smell because you can wash them properly. Also you can machine wash the parts in contrast to some devices that I tested.

Our favorite sprouts are Radish and Fenugreek. Add 20-50g of seeds, water 3 times a day and use the lid that came with the coffee maker to keep them moist. The sprouts are ready after around 3 days. The photos were taken after I added 50g 5 days ago.

I gave coffee makers, prints and a bag of seeds to my family (black PETG) and friends (glow in the dark PETG) for last Christmas. A great gift because the receiver should be happy to use it for at least one of the two functions.

One of the files has features that hold 6mm silicone rope so the print doesn't slide around. The easiest way to get the right length is to squeeze the end of the rope in the feature and then cut it with approximately 2mm extending beyond the end of the hole.

No supports needed. Printed with a 0.6mm nozzle, 0.15mm layers, 3 walls and 20% infill.

Das Filament PETG Rubinrot

Bodum Pebo coffee maker
