It was sturdy built, with good armored protection and heavily armed, with 6 50 caliber machine guns. Although it wasn’t as maneuverable as the Japanese Zero, it proved to be a worthy adversary and gave a fighting chance for the Allies. Later on it was replaced by F6F Hellcat, a design that would prove to be devastated for the Imperial Japanese Air force.
