Grundfos Challenge - Dual Cycloidal Gearbox

This model represents my solution for the Grundfos Challenge.All necessary information can be found in the folder "documents" - Technical presentation - BOM - Section drawing - STEP modelSearching for a compact high ratio gearbox I came up with the idea to use 2 cycloidal gearstages. In my opinion it is the best allround solution compared to other concepts.There are only 6 moving non standard parts in the gearbox, including the input and output shafts and they are all easy to manufacture, no matter if doing 10 prototypes or for serial production. That makes the assembly easy, no special tools are required - Just put in part after part and the gearbox is ready!The pretty high amount of bearings is used to keep the efficiency as high as possible, the eccenter bearing let the cycloidal discs move smoothly around the center line and the supporting bearings on the center line are used to avoid axial thrusting between the parts which would lead to friction losses.Since the bearings are all from standard catalog and very small sized the costs are low as well. All the bearings have 2Z sealing which is sufficient enough to keep the lubrication grease inside the gearbox. Operation without grease should be tested by optimizing the surface coating of the parts, but is not considered in my concept, since dry operation is only nice to have.Unfortunatly I have no more time for a high quality animation, sorry for that! Actually the animation is currently rendered when I'm writing this text... Anyway I'm happy with that result of some few hours of working on tha animation.I hope you enjoy it like I did during the design phase ;-)P.S. I plan to 3D print this gearbox to demonstrate the funcionality and assembly!
