The guiro is a Latin American percussion instrument consisting of an open-ended, hollow gourd with parallel notches cut in one side. It is played by rubbing a stick or tines along the notches to produce a ratchet sound. I decided to keep things simple so I went with a percussion instrument. This was an interesting instrument so I went with this. History History The guiro is commonly used in Puerto Rican, Cuban and other forms of Latin American music, and plays a key role in the typical rhythm section of important genres like son, trova and salsa. Process Process I made an ellipse and put a hole through it, then I used cylinders and BooleanDifference to create the ridges along the four sides. The stick was just a Truncated Cone with the top and bottom both filleted. Some obstacles I faced were trying to fillet the edges of the hole, but it never worked so I gave up.
