GrabCAD
This Extreme Redesign product enables one to filter their water supply with one filtration system. This design allows tap water to be filtered straight from their faucet by simply attaching the filter. The “H2go filter” is designed to twist onto the mouth of the faucet and then used as needed. A carbon filter is incorporated in the filter to reduce pollutants found in tap water and to eliminate other contaminates. Once the faucet water is turned on the water is forced to go through the carbon filter where microorganisms or other contaminates are separated from the clean water. The “H2go filter” not only filtrates your tap water, but also eliminates any unwanted after tastes. In regards to the safety level of public drinking water the “H2go Filter” would be a wise investment to access filtered water due to its accessibility and low maintenance. This product is designed to filter out any possible chemical, microbial, or bacterial contaminants found in public drinking water.
The thread of the product, located at the bottom of the filter, enables one to attach this filter onto a water bottle as well. The author, Donald W. Warburton, of Safe Handling of Foods researched the safety of bottled waters in regards to microbiology. He stated that contamination of bottled water is high where parasites and bacteria are found. Warburton reveals “...contamination can occur at any time during processing owing to failure of hygiene or good manufacturing practices.”. He concluded that bottled water is contaminated by processing of the water itself where bacteria is transferred(Warburton, 2000).
To use this filter one clicks the nozzle piece onto the top filter portion and then twists the combined pieces onto the top of the bottle. The nozzle piece is detachable so the owner of the filter may use it to his/her whim. With the nozzle attached to the filter the user may eliminate potential chemicals and or contaminates from their bottled water. In 2012 the Beverage Marketing Corporation stated Americans drank 9.7 billion gallons of bottled water, a 6.2% increase compared to the previous year. With this spike in bottled water consumption a “H2go filter” is needed. Though the water in the water bottles is filtered the plastic bottles themselves contain chemicals which could leak into the clean water. Therefore, a bottle filter would be a wise investment to those who drink bottled water now and to the billions to come in the future.
