Hail to the Crown

Hail to the Crown

Loved the crown I made for the king Boo so much I created one that was wearable. One side says Hail to the King and the other, Hail to the Queen. After wearing it all day around the house, I have effectively annoyed my wife several times and realized I have turned myself into a giant ring pop. Hahaha I really wanted to wear it grocery shopping, but the boss put her foot down on that one.. :( I printed both pieces out on my Cr10s with a large print bed. Printing crown I used just the basic settings with no support, and it came out just fine. As for the Gem.. I printed it out with ZIRO PLA Translucent Filament Purple. I used the vase mode, or "spiralize outer contour" in Cura. Layer hieght set to .2, wall thickness I set to .65 (even with a .4mm nozzle instauled), wall count doesnt matter, initial bottom layers set to 3, with bottom pattern initial layer set to concentric (just to give it a clean flow of print lines), infill settings won't matter, I turned flow up to 105% (trying to create a thicker sturier print), Speed was turned down all the way to 20. I had to adjust build plate adhesion settings as well, being this is a rather large piece to print. I set my skirt line count to just 2 and skirt line distance to 5mm, otherwise Cura was telling me it wouln't fit on the build plate. Of course select the "Spiralize outer contour" under "Special Modes", and dont forget to flip the model 180 degrees to print it upside down. I glued the edges of the gem to the corners of the crown. Then used a heat gun to re-shape and mold the gem to the inside the crown. With just a little bit of heat I was able to flex and reshape it rather easily. I would recomend being extreamly carefull as to where the heat is directed. At one point I must have hit the wall of the gem above the crown and created a bad ripple that had to be re-shaped yet again. I created this at scale to fit my average adult head, but I would imagine you might have to scale it down depending on who your creating this for. I included several versions of the crown, a Hail to the King, Hail to the Queen, Both, and a blank one, so no matter who your choosing to turn into a ring pop, it'll be perfect. Thanks for checking out my design.
