Hairy Head

Hairy Head

Inspired by the hairy lion: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2007221 After printing, I used an x-acto knife to cut along the inner edge of the cylinder, so that most strands are left coming straight out the head (shown). I then discarded the cylinder. To melt the hair into place, I pointed a heat gun at the head for about 3 minutes or so while rotating it often. To modify this thing, download the hair.scad file, and download the HeadStand.stl from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:758647 into the same directory as hair.scad. Then open hair.scad in OpenSCAD (http://www.openscad.org/). The hair_length variable can be used to control the radius of the cylinder and then the length of the hair. Images shown are with hair_length = 5.5, and the head scaled 3x from the original.
