<p>This is a model of a medical linear accelerator based on the “Halcyon” Unit marketed by Varian Medical Systems (Palo Alto, California). &nbsp; Medical linear accelerators are large and highly sophisticated medical devices that emit focused beams of high energy ionizing radiation used to treat cancer patients. &nbsp;</p><p>About 50% of all cancer patients are treated with radiotherapy at some point in the course of their care. &nbsp; Linear accelerators are the most frequently used device to deliver these treatments and are highly effective in treating the vast majority of cancers.</p><p>The 3D model is printed flat, and easily bent and snapped together for assembly. &nbsp;Multiple filament colors have been used to render this print, and a .3mf file has been included with suggested colors.</p><p>The prints shown here were created with PLA filament, 0.10mm layer height and a few other minor tweaks.</p><p>Send comments and suggestions for improvements.</p><p>Disclaimer: &nbsp;I have no relationship with Varian Medical Systems other than that I have used their technology to treat patients.</p>
