Half Nuts/Bracket for Atlas 6" 10-100 Lathe

Ok, LISTEN. This is a plastic model of the half-nuts that are normally made of *metal* on the lathe. I am also not an engineer. If you print and install these and your lathe breaks, congrats; you used a part that some dummy on the internet with a set of calipers and too much time (namely, me), uploaded. If you try this idea, you are doing so at your own risk. I also make no guarantees that this will fit your lathe, that it'll last for more than three tenths of a second if you do try to use it, or that a koala bear filled with dynamite won't drop on you and explode because you tried to install these on your lathe. That being said! These are a model of the half-nuts (and their bracket) in my Atlas 10-100. I've put these on my lathe and they seem to be working, although we'll see for how long. Make sure you lube these, and the lead screw! IMPORTANT NOTES: So you're here looking for lathe parts. This means, I know you have a lathe. Here's what you gotta do. MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT FILE. The native lead screw is 1/2"-16. Get some 8-32 allthread, or turn some stock down to 0.164"/4.166mm and use a 8-32 die on it. Turn a section of it on the end down to a cylinder, 0.118"/3mm in diameter, and 0.118"/3mm in length. Then cut the whole thing down to 10mm overall length, on the threaded side. So this should give you a piece with 0.275"/7mm in 8-32 threaded length, and a section on the end with a 0.118"/3mm x 0.118"/3mm cylinder. Make another one of those. Thread those two creations into the holes in the half nuts, so that the threaded part is flush but so that the cylindrical part sticks out 3mm. Ideally they should be hard to thread in, so they stay in when you install them. They'll then be able to be installed into the lathe. Good luck, and be safe! A lathe is not a toy and can seriously mess you up if you don't respect it. (Psst! Got a messed up lead screw? Don't wanna buy another one for $100+? McMaster Carr sells 1/2"-10 acme lead screws for a lot cheaper, and since you've got a lathe, you can make the new lead screw! I've uploaded a set of half nuts that are threaded 1/2"-10 as well! You'll need to do math to thread with this new lead screw. Worry not! Little Machine Shop has you covered, I use their change gear calculator! https://littlemachineshop.com/reference/change_gears.php Good luck!)
