This is one of many 3D designs made by my 3rd grade students. Students worked in small groups and used the engineering design process to solve their client's problem.  This group's client was a classroom teacher that needed better hall pass. The students were concered about how dirty a hall pass gets. They wanted to design one that students would not have to touch often, as well as one that would not have to be set down on a dirty bathroom surface. They made a clip to be attached to the pass so that it could be hooked on a pocket or shirt collar.
