These lights come with a stake type anchor to be used in dirt or sand. These alternative anchors may be used to mount the lights more securely. One (...Embeded) is suitable to be placed in mortar and the other (...Surface) may be surface mounted onto a #8 screw. There are files that make 1, 4, or 9 of these at a time. The fins that fit into the bottom of the lamp are fairly tight some sanding at the tips might help. The plates with the slots are used when embedding the anchors. I found it easier to cut a hole in some cardboard and, using the plate for support, put the anchor through the plate upside down through the cardboard and then pour the mortar over the anchor. The plate also keeps the fins clean.
