Hand Crank for Antique Singer Sewing Machines

Hand Crank for Antique Singer Sewing Machines

thingiverse

A small hand crank for an antique Singer sewing machine. (The petite version is very petite...the larger is more usable.) This was designed specifically for a 1901 Singer Model 27 VS, but it should work on most antique machines. There is a 3mm hole in the end of the standard version's handle -- this will allow you to put a floating/spinning hand grip over the dowel, and screw a stopper at the end so it doesn't come off. (There's no hole in the petite version.) To mount, remove the stop-motion knob from the center of the handwheel (after removing the small set screw), and you'll find the washer that matches up with the notches on this print. You can remove the washer entirely (the notches on the print are designed to fit), or just place this crank over the washer (I did that, so I don't lose the washer), and then screw the stop-motion knob back on, and replace the set screw. See it in action at https://photos.app.goo.gl/YUq1VqkDigCdPNDCA NOTE: The stop-motion knob doesn't seem to release the needle when using this crank, because friction, so you should probably either remove the hand crank, or remove your needle, when winding a bobbin.
