Hand-rest for 3D Space Navigator (model 3DX-700028 SE)

As mechanical designer, I use in intensive way a 3D Space Navigator device (model 3DX-700028 Standard Edition), for 3D modeling in Computer Aided Design applications. Thus I decided to design this simple hand-rest, to increase the work comfort, saving at the same time a little bit of money. I dimensioned the 3D model, with proper measures and coupling tolerances, in order to be easily assembled with the 3D Space Navigator device. The hand-rest is essentially made up of two elements, the main part has been made by a generic 3D printer, using material PLA black coloured. As contact surface whit the hand, I used a flat and soft piece of sponge, having a properly rounded shape, sticking it into the pocket located in the rear side of the hand-rest by means of strips of bi-adhesive tape. Then I inserted carefully the 3d Space Navigator device inside its rounded housing, including the interfacing USB cable to the PC, which will be placed into the suitable slot located in the front side of the hand-rest.
