The different types of tissues in the body include epithelial tissue, connective tissue, and muscle tissue. Epithelial tissue forms the lining of many organs and glands in the body, such as the skin, lungs, and kidneys. It helps to protect the body from external damage and regulates the movement of substances in and out of the body. Connective tissue provides support and structure to the body by forming connective tissue proper, which includes bone, cartilage, and ligaments. The muscular system is responsible for moving the body and its parts. It consists of skeletal muscles, smooth muscles, and cardiac muscle. Skeletal muscles are attached to bones and allow for voluntary movement. Smooth muscles are found in the walls of hollow organs such as the digestive tract and blood vessels, and help to move substances through these organs. The circulatory system transports oxygen and nutrients to cells throughout the body and removes waste products. It consists of the heart, arteries, veins, and capillaries. The nervous system is responsible for controlling the body's functions, including movement, sensation, and cognition.
