This thing is handy if you want to roll your own icom microphone. Held held icoms are popular in sports aviation for both airband VHF and UHF. They often are hooked to helmets or headsets. Icom, baofeng, kenwood and other radios use a very similar looking plug but they are not compatible electrically. Icom is the odd one out. Plugs and accessories for baofengs are common and cheap but don't work with icom. The cheap plugs do not bring out all the signals and are un-shielded. If you make your own using my thing and some stereo plugs you can access all the signals. There is a choice in shells - with or without cable hole or anchor for a zip-tie. This is still in progress so more info may follow. Update - my ic-41W has arrived and it is different to the ic-a15 - new things uploaded.
