Hang in There Kitty Ornaments

Hang in There Kitty Ornaments

Six cute kitties, just trying to hang in there. Each one is comprised of two different files - a white background layer and a black/gray/silver layer. I printed each kitty in white and silver. This layered process just worked out much better than a true dual extruder mixed layer process. I glued hooks to the back of each ornament, rather than putting a hole through a poor kitty's paw. It just looks better this way. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 1 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.25 layers Infill: doesn't matter Notes: The white background layer and the black/gray top layer are each only 0.5mm thick. 0.25mm layer resolution is recommended. How I Designed This Designs Each kitty file was designed by taking a photograph of a hanging kitty cat, removing the background and making it black and white only in GIMP. Then I used Inkscape to trace the outside edge (for the background white layer) and the black areas (for the black area) and saved each as a separate DXF file. The DXF files were then extruded, scaled, and centered in OpenSCAD so that they're all 100mm long and between 30-50mm wide.
