Hanging Captain's Lantern

Hanging Captain's Lantern

Really wanted a lantern that could hang from a chain, so I modified the Captain's Lantern to do just that. I also wanted a side wall that could be printed as entire cage, standing vertically, rather than having to print them all flat and assemble later. That's what the ornate wall is for, the arches allow for almost an entirely support-free vertical print. If you print the combined base/walls, you'll notice that the base has an open bottom. Again, that was just done to allow for a single support-free print, as the original base was angled. You'll have to fill it in if you want a closed-off appearance, or use the separated walls and base pieces. Tulipa is completely optional, but as the original Captain's Lantern says, if you print this, use vase mode with translucent filament/resin. Included a version of the top that has some posts and cutouts to mount the E26 socket from Rinoa. (Please see Rinoa original design for disclaimers on safety and usage) There are two versions of this top in the files. The 65% scaled one is due to my small 5"x5"x5" bed limitations. If you use this top, you will have to scale down the walls and base to 65% as well. DO NOT SCALE THE TOP INSIDE YOUR SLICER SOFTWARE!! Doing so will mess with the spacing of the posts and cutouts, and the socket will not fit. Recommended assembly is as follows: 1) Print appropriate top, socket, base and/or sides separately 2) Add wire to socket and secure appropriately (recommend glue or epoxy, but do not cover the exposed leads that are on the internal surfaces of the socket) 3) Feed opposite end of wire through top and glue/epoxy the socket to the top 4) Clip excess posts for appearance after glue/epoxy cures 5) Assemble base and walls if printing separately 6) Glue/epoxy base assembly to top assembly 7) Install light bulb
