Harmful Algae Halocline Sensor - 3D Printed Parts

Harmful Algae Halocline Sensor - 3D Printed Parts

thingiverse

These are the 3D printed parts required to build a video-based harmful sensor for the harmful alga Heterosigma akashiwo. The sensor works by creating an internal halocline of seawater overlain by low salinity water. Heterosigma cells, due to their swimming behavior and tolerance for low salinities, can swim up into the low salinity water, while other organisms remain in the seawater. A video camera records the cells above the halocline, creating a metric for the concentration of Heterosigma. Many non-3D-printed parts are also required to build the sensor.
