Hasselblad ELM 500 Battery Adapter USB

thingiverse

A battery adapter for USB for the popular Hasselblad 500 EL/M V-System camera. There are a few expensive battery adapters on the market that use AAA-batteries but this one uses USB power from a powerbank to power the camera. The principle is to replace a standard battery with the adapter and attach a USB plug to it. Printing is simple, no strict requirements, but make sure the height of 48.5mm is correct. Additionally you need two washers, a USB plug and some flat cable (get it on ebay, rip apart some old printer, that sort of stuff). Flat cable is important because the cover of the battery compartment closes over a tight lip and will not allow to use thicker cable. The side with the smaller diameter (and the bigger washer) is the positive, the other is the negative (black tape in the photo). Make sure not to mix those up when wiring to the USB plug. Make sure to insert the flat cable through the adapter FIRST, then solder it to the washer. Depending on your washer thickness you might wanna add some cardboard or hotglue underneath it, to make it have proper contact to the camera. Don't force the adapter into the camera, don't force the cover onto it or it might break the little closing knob (you can print yourself a new one, they are available here as well).
