Hatched: An Egg Carton Game

Hatched: An Egg Carton Game

thingiverse

A six-sided die print-in-place inside an egg. Shake it to get one of three choices: an egg, a beak, or a fully hatched chicken. 2-12 people can play with a dozen eggs. Divide the eggs equally between the players. Play begins with the eggs knocked over. This is their pre-hatched state. Each player takes turns shaking one of their eggs, with a little shake and land swoop of the hand to get the die to land on the interior cup. It's a little tricky and that's part of the fun. Each egg has to go through the three stages of hatching - in order - before being returned to the case. You keep shaking your eggs until they have all gone through the full hatching cycle. The player with all of their eggs hatched first wins! Note: if the die lands on the side and its not clear, then all the players have to agree about its value. If not, just shake and land it again. This project is one of many "untrashables" - a collaboration with my 9-year-old daughter. We take a piece of household trash and, using 3D printed pieces, come up with something fun and/or useful.
