HDwing7 is a novel high-altitude flying-wing glider design concept, the seventh iteration in its series. It is designed to function as a return-to-launch (RTL) glider that ascends via a high-altitude balloon (HAB) payload. XFLR5 aerodynamic modelling estimates a glide ratio of around 10:1 at FL1000, which meets the HAB-launch objectives. Technical specifications include a wingspan of 1500mm, a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 1400g, a payload capacity of 300g, a best lift-to-drag ratio of 12.5, a stall speed of 15.5 KIAS, a max speed of 58 KIAS, and a cruise speed of 30 KIAS, with a duration of three hours and a range of 70 nautical miles (projected at a takeoff weight of 1250g).
