Head of a Victorious Athlete of the Diadumenos type at The Louvre, Paris

The headband worn by this athelete allows us to recognise this sculpture as an antique replica of the Diadumenos ("one attaching" a headband around their head), the original of which can be found at the National Museum of Athens. This type, created around 440-430 BC by the bronze sculpture Polykleitos, depicts the celebration of an athlete.
