Heat Set Insert Press

Heat Set Insert Press

Another heat set insert press. Reusing the linear rods and bearings from the X-Axis of a Prusa MK3S+. So…… you know the part where you screw the X-carriage-back on extruder assembly, where it says “Tighten the screws with a reasonable force, make sure you won't deform/squeeze the bearings between the printed parts”, yeahhhh that part, well I tightened too much and the bearing deformed and made grooves into the rods. I wanted to find a use for the rods and bearings since they still kinda work but not for something that needs precision.

The standalone base is a bit wobby since its just ABS Plastic and probably warps a little after printing. Included is a base that can be screwed down to a sturdy wood base.

I know the back spring part look a bit weird with the angle, but keeping the angle because it reminds me of an AT-AT.

Uses springs that I found at the local hardware store and M3 screws, nuts and square nuts. Should be self-explanatory where things go.

Thanks for looking.
