Heat Set Insert Press - Dremel Adapter

Wanted to try out heat-set inserts on my next design and didn't want to build or buy a new press when I had a Dremel 220-01 Rotary Tool Work Station sitting on my bench. So I hacked this thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3468979

Made the adapter collar a bit smaller, tapered, and opened up the latch to allow a power cord thru. (sorry no detailed pictures, see the STL and the original thing to get the idea).

It fits my Weller and a cheap old soldering iron I had sitting around. No need to really crank down the collar, just push up the iron until it holds, and lightly tighten so it does not fall down. The pressure from the inset pushes against the taper of the part.

It uses a 4mm x 20mm screw and nut.

Print instructions

Category: Hand Tools Print Settings

Printer Brand: Creality

Printer: Ender 5

Rafts: No

Supports: Yes

Resolution: .28

Infill: 35%

Filament: eSun PLA+ black
Notes:

Print as displayed. Support "from table only" works. I am light on the infill, but used 3 shells, and 4 top and bottom layers.
