Heated Bed Insulator

Heated Bed Insulator

Hello All- SO....I made this cork heated bed insulator out of cork, I used the 3M adhesive from the link below to attach the cork to the heated bed. I cut holes in the cork for the springs and screws. I found it easiest to make a paper template and transfer the correct cuts over to the cork. After that I used the Gorilla tape to seal the edges of the cork to the bed. I also used a little of it to lap onto the bottom of the cork to sure the tape in place doing the edges first. I think you can see the tape on the pictures, so far it has had no issues with the bed temp and has stayed attached. Take your time cutting the cork slowly so the edges are square, also go slowly with the transfer adhesive (works like double sided tape sort of but very thin and rubbery) Let me know if you need any more info or have any questions. Overall I really like the way it turned out and the added benefit of the insulation. I say min thickness to use is 1/2", the stock springs and bolts still work fine but they are adjusted pretty low but that is not an issue. If you are using a glass plate as well I recommend the spacer made by Pascal32- fits great on the X-one and scale the thickness axis to fit your glass thickness. Thanks! Also in the picture I used the spring adapter from jpotegal on the non heated part only- these help to make the springs less wobbly- do not use them on the heated side they will melt in PLA lol ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2160569 ) Materials Link: Cork: http://amzn.to/2npd2u6 (gives you extra but I wanted to make sure I had at least 2 in case I messed up ) Tape: http://amzn.to/2muhRDb (for sealing edges and overlap) 3M: http://amzn.to/2mSqjI3 (attaching cork to the heated bed) Knife: http://amzn.to/2n9e2Aw (this is what I use but any quality hobby knife would do) Glass Plate: (use with scaleble print by Pascal32)http://amzn.to/2neMOKG
