The lattice frame of this quadrocopter is based on four successive technologically sophisticated development steps. During the first workstep, a topology optimization with ANSYS was performed. The result revealed loadpaths through the structure, where higher mechanical stresses appeared. These higher loaded zones built the basis for the third step. In the second step, a lattice structure based on a meshed reduced design space was extracted. Therefore, edges from a tetrahedron mesh were exported with a given (small) diameter. Since the height of the elements was forced to be bigger than the width/length (=steep flanks), the printability is assured.The third step used an algorithm, to adapt the rod diameters within the lattice structure. This means, that lattice rods became thicker, where the structure was higher loaded.In a last step, the structure was shrink-wrapped and the surface smoothed inside ANSYS Spaceclaim.Frame weight = 15.7g
