Helmet Camera Mount Shim

Helmet Camera Mount Shim

thingiverse

Sticking a camera (or similar) to a helmet can be a problem because of the helmets curvature. Some cameras come with a curved mount but the fit is rarely perfect. This OpenSCAD design generates a rectangular 'shim' which is flat on one side and has a double curvature on the other. The curvature may be set by measuring the gap between a straight edge and your helmet - see the red line in the photograph. measure this gap in both directions, over the length of the shim size you need. The OpenSCAD works out the corresponding radii and 'carves' this out to give a customised shim. Some 3M VHB sticky foam pads on either side and you have a camera mount that should fit perfectly and not fall off.
