HEMISPHERICAL LAMP FINIAL - No-Snag After having to replace my US flag prematurely several times in the past because it would snag on the post lamp finial fitting and become damaged, a non-snagging replacement finial seemed like a good idea. This is a 50 mm hemisphere with a slightly concave bottom and a standard 1/8" NPT pipe threaded hole (0.405" OD, 27 tpi) to fit standard lamp parts. The thread is not tapered (true NPT thread is) and as printed, had to be forced on with the stem held in a vise, which is OK in this application. The thread did engage and was run on by hand but was a fairly tight fit. It was not so tight as to crack the printed piece. I was pretty pleased with that fit - not a problem for this application. Printed with a very fine 0.05 mm layer height because of the fine pitch thread. Printed from PLA with a 0.3 mm nozzle, 0.8 mm shell and 12% infill. Because of the slightly concave bottom, the bottom surface is a little ugly from sagging but is unseen in my installation. Supports possible but didn't want to have to dig them out of the threads.
