Hemnes Replacement Parts

If you just moved and lost the most important part to your Hemnes bed frame from IKEA, this is a printable replacement (along with instructions for other parts). Instructions This is for the Hemnes bed frame, http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59931590/ (download the instructions there to follow along). To replicate the same missing parts I had, you need: 4x angle_part.stl (replaces ikea part 102335) 4x M6 studding ~83mm long (replaces part 111451; see next section for mcmaster numbers) 4x M6 nut (ikea 100710, mcmaster 90591A151) 4x M6 washer (ikea 100828, mcmaster 91166A250) some random M4x8 screws (ikea 117327, mcmaster 92005A218) Tools Ideally, you need something to cut with (like a Dremel), something to clean up the end of the thread (bench grinder), something to hold it with (vise grips), and a 10mm wrench (I don't know what size originally came with it). Making the studding Either start with a piece of threaded rod (surprisingly hard to find locally in the U.S., try mcmaster e.g. 99067A245), or buy them cut to length, e.g. mcmaster 93275A019. You actually only need 80mm, but the extra is to account for inaccuracy with a Dremel. You are free to hold the middle of the studding with vice grips -- you only need about 25mm of good thread on each end. Note on washers I found that 1/4" washers fit and have a larger O.D. -- these may also be easier to find locally if you're in the U.S. The upper-left washer of the four in the photo is a proper M6 washer, the rest are 1/4". Installation Same as the regular parts, although you'll need to slip on the printed part before fully inserting the studding into the side rail (because for strength, it doesn't have a slot, only a hole). Also beware of using the box end of the wrench, if your studding is extra long or didn't bottom out in the head/footboard (you can get it stuck). M4 screws These secure the 117228 corner braces; the screws that come with it are M4 although you could probably get away with re-drilling and using self-tapping #8 screws or so.
