Henry Grattan, the prominent Irish statesman and champion of Irish legislative independence, sat to Turnerelli during the Belfast-born sculptor's visit to Tinnahinch in county Carlow. Allegedly modelled in just eleven hours, the bust was praised by Antonio Canova as the finest modern bust he had seen in Britain. It was commissioned by the 8th Lord Kinnaird for his gallery of political radicals at Rossie Priory in Perthshire.   This object is part of "Scan The World".
