I was away in Europe on my honeymoon for 3 weeks and work has been very busy the past couple weeks since my return. I am now catching up on the hundreds of comments and requests to this any my other Hero Me makes here on Thingiverse. Please bear with me while I get back up to speed. - Mediaman NOTICE: I’ve checked and I found that on June 25th I posted the Hero Me V6 Volcano Base 1 here by mistake! I am very sorry. My only excuse is that I had a cold when I made the GEN3 update, and I got them mixed up. The Gen2c version of Base 1 for both CR-10/S, Ender 3/Pro and Ender 5 are still posted here and work. I am still working on the right GEN3 version for the standard E3D V6. I will update you when this is done. If you downloaded the Gen3 Base 1 for E3D V6 between June 25th and now. please print the Gen2c version instead (or wait for the correct Gen3a version this week). My sincere apologies! Hero Me Gen 3 Update! The first set of Hero Me Gen3 parts are now available. Many more to come in the next few days. See update section below for more details. The Hero Me base has been updated to work with the popular E3D V6 hot-end! The E3D V6 Volcano version can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3370065 There are three parts cooling ducts to choose from: OEM 4010 fan, Single 5015 fan and Dual 5015 fan mount. These are the same cooling ducts as those found in the Hero Me Gen2 for the OEM hot-end here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3182917 The dual 5015 fan ducts are configured to have each fan cool one side of the part. Each air channel is short and direct. There is no air crossing the middle bar that keeps them aligned. The Dual 5015 duct has excellent visibility of the hot-end. For mounting this system reuses existing screws from the stock setup, depending on your choices, you may need additional nuts and bolts (see mounting instructions below). Parts Cooling Duct Height Placement When the hot-end nozzle is touching the build plate, the bottom of the part cooling duct should be between 1mm and 2mm above the build plate (depending on your hot-end and nozzle shape/size). You want the ducts to be blowing air at the base of the nozzle. The lower the better, but not so low as to catch on the printed parts. I set mine to about 1.2mm - 1.4mm above the bed. There are some duct leveling helpers included with one of the remixes here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3481256 If you already have a Hero Me Gen 2 based fan duct, you only need to print the two new base mount pieces (Hero Me E3D Base 1 Gen2.stl and Hero Me E3D Base 2 Gen2.stl). Otherwise with Hero Me add-on parts prior to Gen 2, while they are compatible, you should reprint all the parts as there are significant improvements to all. The cooling fan ducts and ABL options are the same as those found with other Hero Me Gen 2 systems found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3182917 I have created a wedge that will mount under the part cooling duct to hold a short strip of LED lights. Example can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3047202 -------------------------------------- For a totally stock Ender 3, CR-10/S, or other Creality model or clone (except for your E3D hot-end), if you want to use the Hero Me with just your existing stock fans and screws, here is what you need. To reuse the fans and screws from a totally stock compatible 3D printer, you will print just 4 parts (with no ABL): Hero Me E3D Base 1 Gen2.stl Hero Me E3D Base 2 Gen2.stl Hero Me OEM 4010 duct - Gen2.stl Base Lock - Gen2.stl You will need two M3 26mm bolts and nuts to mount the E3D to the Hero Me base. Optionally, you can add any fan shroud of your choice as long as it fits in 40mm x 40mm. The one shown in my pictures can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1662879 Thats it. After that, if you are going to add an ABL solution you would select the type you are using (EZABL, BLTouch, or Dial) and the the 'single fan' version of the wing. There is a growing list of Hero Me compatible options and add-ons. I have started to compile a collection here: https://www.thingiverse.com/mediaman/collections/hero-me-cooling-systems Note that I have not tested any of these compatible options listed in the collection at this time. There are others out there that I have not added, only because they are derivatives of older versions of Kelokera's or my remix parts and may not perform as well as what is available in this Gen 2 series. ----------------------------------- Marlin firmware offsets for ABL: For EZABL & E3D V6 hot-end: Dual 5015 duct: -52 X and -4 Y Single 5015 duct: -45 X and -4 Y Dual 4020 duct: -57 X and -4 Y For BLTouch & E3D V6 hot-end: Dual 5015 duct: -50 X and -8 Y Single 5015 duct: -42 X and -8 Y For Dial clip mount and OEM hot-end: OEM fan and single 5015 duct: Use -51 X and -9 Y For Dial bolt mount and OEM hot-end: OEM fan and single 5015 duct: Use -50 X and -5 Y The Hero Me Gen 2 cooling systems have refinements across most all of the parts. Parts with 'Gen2' in the filename are this second generation. Parts without 'Gen2' have not changed, but are fully compatible with the this second generation. Looking for a cooling duct and mount for a E3D V6 Volcano hot-end? You can find it here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3370065 -------------------------------------------- Update June 27th: Hero Me LightWeight Dual 5015 Ducts! This is a 2 piece print that greatly reduces the weight of the ducts. Very short path straight down to the parts. Nothing blocking your view of the hot-end. Fans are flipped 180deg compared to all the previous Hero Me cooling ducts. --------- Update June 25th: Hero Me Gen3 STLs arrive. ------------- There are new bases for CR-10, CR-10S, Ender 3/Pro, and Ender 5. A new dual 5015 cooling duct. Many more to come in the next few days. Improvements: Longer mount pegs for cooling ducts to give more height adjustments Redesigned Base 2 part for easy assembly. Stronger and wider wire channel and wire tower. Redesigned mount for Ender 5 to simplify attachment. Brand new cooling duct air flow designed by ACWest. There are still Gen2 parts in the mix, they will be removed as Gen3 replacements are completed. All Gen 1 and Gene 2 parts will work with Gen3 bases. Many Gen3 cooling ducts will be compatible with all Hero Me generations. A few Gen3 cooling ducts may only fit on Gen3 Bases due to the longer mount pegs. Update May 12th: Added EZABL Mini mount for use with single fan part cooling ducts. Offsets are -41 X and -6 Y Added EZABL Mini mount for use with dual fan part cooling ducts. Offsets are -47 X and -6 Y Update March 10th: Added finished dual 4010 fan duct (OEM). Design idea and initial prototype was done by https://www.thingiverse.com/master2098. Updated dual 5015 and 4020 fan ducts. Update March 3rd: Updated the OEM 4010 part cooling duct to have the same enlarged fang tips to increase air flow and angled the direction to move the turbulence away from the nozzle tip. Update Feb 26th: Significant update to all the parts cooling ducts (except the OEM 4010) to increase air flow by more than doubling the size of fang outlets, also angled the direction of the air flow to move the turbulence away from the nozzle tip. This will allow more cooling air to flow across the nozzle tip faster. Added Hero Me base for use on an Ender 5 printer. Has notch for belt mount and T mount for slot to hold the base in place. 3/8/2019 NOTICE, THE HERO ME Base for the ENDER 5 has issue reported against it. I am working on an update. Update Feb 20th 2019: Updated the single OEM 4010 part cooling duct to have more clearance at the back to not hit the bolt for the lower wheel on the X gantry. Update Feb 11th 2019: Added a Single 5020 radial fan duct to the group by request. Update Feb. 2nd 2019: Updated the Hero Me Base to work with the updated Creality X gantry mounting plate, trimmed 2mm off the bottom of the back clip that wraps around the mount plate. This new Base is fully backward compatible with older mount plates. Also updated the Touch-mi mount for dual 4020 duct to allow access to mount duct screw, also moved the Touch-mi mount away from the X gantry by 1.2mm to help clear the X pulley box. Update Jan. 29th 2019: Corrected slicing issues with the cooling ducts, you want versions that end in Gen2c.stl or Gen2d.stl. Update Jan. 28th 2019: Corrected a blockage in the single 5015 duct when sliced with S3D. Updated the OEM 4010 fan duct to not hit the X gantry plate. Update Jan. 27th 2019: Updated the base to have a stronger wire retaining tower without losing space for the hot-end wires. Corrected 3 duct STL files that reported mesh errors (prior ones still printed fine via Cura and S3D). Mesh corrected versions have Gen2b in the filename, all others did not have issues. I do not recommend using Silc3r, for some reason it has issue with many parts, where none of the other slicers do. Update Jan. 26th 2019: Added a Touch-mi and EZABL mounts for use with the new Dual 4020 fan duct. These are the first of the ABL mounts to be adapted for the wider duct. The others will be coming soon. Update Jan. 25th 2019: The added Dual 4020 blower radial fan duct has been tested (image posted as well). There are no ABL options for this prototype duct at this time. There are different mount types for 4020 boxer fans. The current prototype is for those with the shorter 15mm wide mount wings (for M3 bolts). Before slicing, orient the front face of the duct to be down flat on the build plate. As with the other ducts, use supports from build plate only. Update Jan. 24th 2019: Added two dial sensor mounts. One uses an M3 bolt and nut, the other is a simple pressure clip mount. These are only for the OEM 4010 and Single 5015 fan mounts at this time. These two dial mounts are not yet tested, they may interfere with the X end-stop. Update Jan. 23rd 2019: Reinforced the dual 5015 duct's fan mount points, reduced the file complexity (file size dropped from 22MB to just 1.2MB) while improving the quality, and also made it easier to print. Corrected the back left duct to not hit the X-Gantry lower wheel nut. Update Jan. 21st 2019: Reinforced the single 5015 duct's fan mount point and also made it easier to print. Corrected the back left duct to not hit the X-Gantry lower wheel nut. Update Jan. 19th 2019: BLTouch adjustable wing mount (dual 5015 fans) Corrected issue that caused mount to prevent X gantry from touching the X end-stop. If you are using the BLTouch for dual 5015 cooling fans and have this issue, reprint both the wing and the mount. This does not change the firmware offset. Update Jan. 18th 2019: Hero Me Gen 2. ------------- This update has refinements across most all of the parts. Parts with 'Gen2' in the filename are this second generation. Parts without 'Gen2' have not changed, but are fully compatible with the this second generation. Improvements include: Hero Me Base - Larger reinforced wire guide with much more space for hot-end wires. Supports OEM and MicroSwiss hot-ends Easy access channel for top X-gantry bolt Hero Me Ducts (OEM fan, single & dual 5015 fans) Greatly improved clearance from lower X-gantry wheel nut Reinforced and tapered mounting tabs for better fit to base Refined duct tips for better air flow to parts Increased adjustable height range for better alignment to hot-end nozzle Wider channels for the 5015 fan clips (holds the two sides of the fan case together). Base Lock, EZABL, & BLTouch mounts Resized M3 bolt mount rings to better fit the Hero Me Base BLTouch adjustable wing mount (dual 5015 fans) Moved mount 2.5mm to the left to give better wire clearance with second 5015 fan Offset locations updated above EZABL mounts (OEM fan, single & dual 5015 fans) Refined clip to better fit around base Added spacers for EZABL mini All updates from Nov-Dec are incorporated in Gen 2 versions. If you want to tinker with these they are available here: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/51K8NTHB2Pd --------------------------------------------- For mounting use the following nuts and bolts: For the 5015 fans you will need two M3 20mm bolts and nuts (1 per fan). The Base (1&2) mount for the E3D hot-end will need two M3 30mm bolts, nuts ad 4 washers (2 per bolt). Mounting the base to the X gantry will use the same two screws that came from the OEM shroud metal box that held it to the X gantry. BLTouch mount will use two M3 12mm bolts & nuts for the BLTouch itself and for the BLTouch Wing, one M3 12mm with washer and nut. The single and dual 5015 part cooling fan ducts reuse the two screws that held the duct for the OEM 4010 fan. If you are not using and ABL mount, you will need to print the 'HM_Base_Lock_Gen2.stl' file to hold the Base 1 & 2 against the X gantry plate. Kelokera has excellent photo instructions on mounting the base onto the X carriage in the original design here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3092044
