To connect each tile together I used these: https://www.michaels.com/bead-landing-silver-earring-wire-hoop-mix/10443041.html As you can see in the photo, I cut each wire to length then super glued them into each slot. As of making this post I have not tested the button clip with this tie but I have tested it with bowties and it worked. Edit 1: Button clip didn't work with my current shirt but has with others. I used black elastic band with super glue and that worked.
