These twisty puzzles are both based on the same core that turns around three axes similar to the way the Rubik's cheese wheel puzzle does. There are two different types of edges for this core, the normal edges and the split edges. With the normal edges the puzzle keeps its shape and can be solved in the same way a Rubik's cheese wheel puzzle is solved. The split edges cause some minor shapeshifting on the top and bottom layers and adds some extra difficulty to the puzzle. These two types of edges can be mixed together as well if you wish to do so.

three 16mm M3 screws are needed for the assembly of this puzzle

Most of this puzzle will print fine without supports except the main puzzle edge piece which will need them. And when printing the top tiles for the split edge pieces its best to flip half of them so that when you glue the tiles into the puzzle you can have the smooth side from the printer bed facing outwards on all the pieces

How many of each part to print:

Main puzzle:
core x1
main puzzle center x3
main puzzle edge x3

Normal edges:
edge x12

Split edges:
edge1 x12
edge2 x12

Printing the tiles:

if you're printing the puzzle with the normal edges, then it's easiest if you print the tiles in a few different sets

(edge side tile x2, main puzzle center) three times in a different colour each time
(edge side tile x2, center cap) three times in a different colour each time
(edge top tile x6) twice in a different colour each time
or if you're printing the puzzle with split edges

(split edge side tile x4, main puzzle center) three times in a different colour each time
(split edge side tile x4, center cap) three times in a different colour each time
(split edge top tile x12) twice in a different colour each time
The colour scheme I used on mine was red, blue, pink, orange, green and grey for the sides, and white and yellow for the top and bottom
Category: Puzzles
